Mark Harris' Successful Year

Mark Harris is country boy who grew up on a farm in the NSW town of Burren Junction. Whilst completing his studies at the Farrar Memorial Agricultural High School in Tamworth. Mark played a lot of sports, including rugby, rugby league, water polo and water skiing, he reached a number of representative teams in his chosen sports.

At the completion of his studies, Mark entered into a carpentry apprenticeship and had the world at his feet.

All of this however was taken from Mark on the 25th of November 2006, when he was involved in a near fatal car accident, resulting in the amputation of his right leg above the knee.

Mark recently moved to Alexandria, next to BodyZone Studio at which I am the proprietor and it is there I was fortunate enough to meet this incredible and inspiring young man.

Mark began a training program under my guidance at BodyZone, in short period of time we formed a great relationship. It was throughout our workouts I decided to challenge Mark and invited him to participate in the 2008 Cole Classic Ocean Swim which was a 1km swim. Our training sessions included both gym and laps of Sans Souci Pool.
Mark has had phenomenal support from his work colleagues at Fugens. Together 14 of us swam with Mark it the Cole Classic held at Manly on the 3rd of February. Six weeks later Mark backed up to swim in the Shark Island Ocean Swim, this time looking very sporty in his new swim wear supplied by AussieBums.

Special thanks to all the crew at Fugens, Men of League, AussieBums, Tinine Group and Toll Express for their support.
